Sheldon Gilbert, Q.C. (Retired) is a partner and founder of Gilbert Kirby Stringer LLP. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1969 and appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1981.
Sheldon is an able and experienced trial and appellate advocate who has represented clients in various courts and forums in a variety of personal injury and insurance litigation matters. He has conducted well over 125 civil jury trials in personal injury actions and has over 80 reported non-jury cases….

Ian D. Kirby, LL.B., C.S.

Ian practices exclusively as a civil litigator, primarily in the areas of insurance, personal injury, product liability and commercial litigation, appearing as counsel in over 250 trials, arbitrations and appeals. He has lectured and written for the legal profession, law students, the insurance industry, business and community groups on a variety of topics including trial advocacy, insurance, mediation and government relations.

R. Shawn Stringer, B.Sc., LL.B.

Shawn is the managing partner of the firm. He was called to the Bar in 1990 after completing his B.Sc. in Biology at University of Toronto and law school at University of Ottawa. He is also a trained firefighter having attended Texas A & M University industrial fire fighting school.
His practice is concentrated in area of personal injury and property damage tort claims from the defence perspective including residential, commercial and heavy equipment losses.

R. Paul Kiddey, B.A., LL.B.

Paul joined Gilbert Kirby Stringer upon his call to the Bar in 2006 following completion of his articles at a boutique insurance defence firm in Toronto. He is now a partner.
His practice focuses on personal injury claims including third party bodily injury and first party accident benefits claims, both on the defence and plaintiff side.
Paul is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and Canadian Defense Lawyers.

Timothea T. Leung
In 2012, Timothea earned an LL.M. in International Business and Economic Law at Georgetown University. She also obtained a J.D. and an LL.B. in 2008 from the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Windsor, and a B.A. from McGill University in 2004. Timothea is licensed to practice law in the Province of Ontario and in the State of New York.

Samantha C. Higgins, B.A., J.D.
Samantha was called to the Bar in 2014 after receiving her Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Saint Mary’s University. During her time at law school, Samantha participated in the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic, for which she obtained honours designation. She also represented the Schulich School of Law in the McKelvey/Sopinka Trial Advocacy Moot.

Briana Cott, B.A., J.D.
Briana was called to the Ontario Bar in 2016 after receiving her Juris Doctorate from Queen’s University Law School in 2015 and her Bachelor of Arts in Information and Media Studies from the University of Western Ontario in 2012. While at law school, Briana was a member of Pro Bono Radio and on the committee of the Queen’s Law Cancer Society.
Briana joined Gilbert Kirby Stringer LLP in July 2016 after articling at a top ranked plaintiff oriented personal injury firm.
